Dishani's story
When Dishani moved from India to Oslo, she left behind both her job and the security she knew. At first, she enjoyed exploring the city, but loneliness crept in. She missed her work, lost energy, and felt empty. One day, she found Caritas when she searched the internet – it changed everything.
She enrolled in a job search course, started Norwegian language training, and met people in the same situation. For the first time in a long time, she felt hope.
Through the courses, she learned about Norwegian working life, CV writing, and interview preparation. She also received support and inspiration from volunteers and participants. An instructor told her that “Life is like a tunnel – to find the light, we must keep walking.” She carries that quote with her every day.
Dishani now works as a volunteer in a health project and has found both meaning and community. She is still learning Norwegian and is slowly but surely building a new life. “ Caritas has been a light in the darkness ,” she says, adding, “ I am proud of how far I have come and excited about what lies ahead.”
