Rukia, a single mother from Ayajo, Uganda, lived with worries for a long time. With poor crops and little income, she struggled to support her children. Everything changed when she received training in sustainable agriculture through Caritas .

“Before, I didn't know how to plant properly. I wasted seeds and the yields were small. But after the courses, I learned about row planting, pest control and how to take care of the crop after harvest,” she says.

With new knowledge, new skills, and the right seeds, her income increased. She can now harvest 360 kilograms from one field and earn over two million shillings per season. Her eldest child is studying nursing, the family has enough food, better health, and security.

Caritas also gave her equipment for safe storage, and she now wants to expand the farm. – I am grateful. Caritas "They haven't just helped me – they've helped raise my children," Rukia says with pride.
