The Lenten campaign: Hope in small actions

We live in a troubled world. In Gaza, we see enormous suffering at the moment, people who have lost everything.We hear about children who have lost their parents, grandparents and siblings - and about parents who have lost their children. Unfortunately, many have also been physically and mentally injured. Lack of food, water and medicine is a terrible reality.

The war in Ukraine is not over either. Many people still live in fear and struggle to make ends meet. In DR Congo, protracted internal strife has escalated, bringing distress to many people. Let's not forget the ongoing crises in Syria, Venezuela and the Sahel, and a feared famine in northern Nigeria. Across the world, there are millions of people in need of help.

Here at home in Norway, it's also expensive, and many people are experiencing severe pressure on their personal finances. We meet many of them at our resource centers around Norway, where we provide guidance and support to immigrants and refugees.

That's why we encourage you to support this year's Lenten campaign. You can help ensure that more people have access to seeds, kitchen gardens and livestock, as well as training in, for example, agriculture or fish farming.With your help, we can also continue to distribute food, water and hygiene items to those in need, as well as provide refugees and immigrants with guidance and support.

Renounce a good and give with joy

"Hope in small actions for the common good" is this year's theme. The hope lies in the fact that if we stand together, give up some goods and give with joy, everyday life will be better for many people in vulnerable situations, both at home and abroad. Caritas has sustainable initiatives all over the world that save lives and help people out of poverty and exclusion.
