Caritas at Arendal Week 2026

Two of Caritas their employees and a Caritas -pennant outside Arendal Kunstforening where we will also arrange debates about aid and integration at Arendal Week 2026.

Caritas participates in Arendal Week to raise topics such as integration, development policy, food security , peace work and the role of faith-based actors in community and development work. The great integration debate
Thursday, August 13th, 10:00–10:45, Arendal Art Association
What does it take to be more successful with integration – and why don't we talk more about the measures we know work? Caritas Norway is hosting the debate, where politicians, researchers and professionals discuss work, inclusion and ways into the community. Ingrid Rosendorf Joys, Secretary General of Caritas Norway, is the moderator. The event is streamed here .

Can the world afford to lose the fight against hunger ?

Hunger is increasing not because solutions are lacking, but because political priorities are failing. Caritas Norway is hosting the debate on what is at stake when the fight against hunger loses out in the competition for political attention and resources. Ingrid Rosendorf Joys is the moderator, and Tuva Bugge, head of our international department, is participating in the panel. The event is streamed here .

Volunteering plays a crucial role in emergency preparedness, local communities and democracy – but needs stable frameworks to be able to deliver over time. Caritas is a co-organizer together with, among others, Frivillighet Norge, Knif, LNU, Red Cross and several other organizations.

How to defraud the government? Tips and tricks from field one
Monday, August 10, 4:00–4:45 PM, The Salvation Army
Through an interactive game based on real-life cases, the A-crime forum shows how wage theft, ID abuse and straw man activities affect workers, undermine the tax system and weaken serious working life. Caritas Norway is co-organizer through the A-krimforum.

The great development debate
Wednesday, August 12, 4:30–5:30 PM, City Council Chamber
Norwegian development policy is at a crucial moment, with increased geopolitical unrest, pressure on aid budgets and the government's work on the White Paper Turning Point . Caritas is co-organizer together with the Forum for Development and Environment and a broad coalition of Norwegian organizations.

Religion: a stick around the foot in aid?
Thursday, August 13, 12:30–1:30 p.m., The Salvation Army
Do faith-based aid actors have special advantages because they understand a religious world – or is religion a challenge in development work? Caritas is co-organizer through the Network for Religion and Development, and Ingrid Rosendorf Joys participates in the conversation together with, among others, the Church emergency response and political representatives.

Norwegian support to Ukraine: Challenges and opportunities
Monday 10 August at 17.00–17.45, Kambuzi
Norad invites you to a discussion about challenges, opportunities and dilemmas related to the management of the largest development assistance program in Norwegian history. Melissa Søvik, Caritas Norway's local representative in Ukraine participates in the panel.

Ecumenical peace service
Tuesday, August 11, 7:00–8:15 PM, Trinity Church
The Christian Council of Norway invites to an ecumenical peace service with national church leaders, local congregation leaders and representatives from several Christian organizations. Ingrid Rosendorf Joys is participating from Caritas Norway and will hold an appeal.

Join us as we distribute millions in aid – and ask: How can there be more?
Wednesday 12 August at 13.00–13.45, Symposium
The Postcode Lottery distributes millions to Norwegian organizations and at the same time invites discussion about how good causes can be financed at a time when aid is under pressure. Ingrid Rosendorf Joys participates from Caritas in connection with the distribution.

Peace from below – can peace be built from below?

Nansen Peace Center invites you to a conversation about local peace work, grassroots initiatives and the interaction between civil society and peace diplomacy. Tor Kristian Birkeland, political advisor, participates in the panel for Caritas Norway.
