The board of Caritas Norway has appointed Ingrid Rosendorf Joys to the position of Secretary General. She takes over the job from Martha Rubiano Skretteberg.

Caritas is the Catholic Church's aid organization and has extensive international aid work against hunger and poverty and for peace and reconciliation.

The Board is very pleased to have recruited Ingrid Joys to the position as Secretary General of Caritas Norway.

With Ingrid, we get a confident and experienced leader with broad expertise in the organization's tasks and who can take the business forward in a world where Caritas is increasingly needed.

Joys is a trained sociologist and comes from the position of Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for Faith and Life Stance Communities. She has previously worked in the Catholic Diocese of Oslo and has a background from Caritas. She has also been the leader of Norway's young Catholics. She also brings important experience of peace and reconciliation work through her time in the European Religious Leadership Council, Religions for Peace and NOREF (Center for International Conflict Resolution).

Working for a better world has always been a key motivation for me. I am very excited to take on the role as Secretary General of such an important and reputable organization as Caritas.

Caritas is one of the largest organizations in Norway in its field, and together with Caritas organizations in countries all over the world, we make up the world's second largest humanitarian network. This is an opportunity and a great responsibility. Rooted in the social teachings of the Catholic Church, Caritas makes sure to be a voice for the voiceless both at home and abroad, working for a world where people's inherent dignity is respected and their human rights are realized. As Secretary General, I will work with the staff and board to ensure that we continue this important work.
